Does Anyone Know Where The Soap Is?

Started the new job today. This is the upstairs- the restaurant itself.

This is the basement kitchen- where I spent the entire day/evening learning how to make spinach ravioli and agnolotti. I spent three hours doing each, and am still terrible. The last two hours I spent cleaning the station and vacuum-sealing halibut. It was a f***ing interesting day. But I'm terribly excited. The idea of becoming skilled with a knife, with dough, with pan and oven-  s***, just becoming skilled with my hands, is blowing my mind. And oh yeah, check out that tray of agnolotti. Some of my work there.

A close-up of one of the veal-stuffed agnolotti. Don't worry, I'm gonna get better. Click to go big.

The kitchen is overflowing with cook books, Italian and otherwise. Gonna steer clear of this one, though.

This is the first cigarette that has touched my hands since landing in a new city. It's a Newport, and it was offered to me by a new friend and fellow employee. He had no qualms about telling me that he is the dish washer in these parts, and that he is a Ravens fan. He also told me, rather matter-of-factly, that he loves sweets, and that he just got out the Pen. I always did appreciate a straight-shooter.

Haven't decided if I'm gonna smoke it yet. Haven't decided when I'm gonna ask him what he went in for. I figure I've got time on both counts.
